Sustainability
is our compass,

journey

Protecting the common good

We understand the importance of conducting shipping operations responsibly and sustainably. In 2023, international shipping emitted nearly
3% of global GHG emissions while transporting almost 80% of global trade by volume. We are committed to reversing this trend, making the world’s most efficient mode
of transportation into the most sustainable.

We have set an ambitious goal to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, and to create a safe, diverse and inclusive work environment that respects the human rights of our employees, ship managers and seafarers alike.

Sustainability is our compass, guiding every journey. We believe in harmonising economic prosperity with ecological resilience, recognising that a healthy planet is essential for the success of our business. Sustainability isn’t just a choice, it’s our only course for a prosperous maritime future.

Decarbonising our fleet

Leading in technology

Improving energy efficiency with planned dry dockings, advanced coatings, slower vessel speeds, and dedicated shore power are examples of our ongoing efforts to make operations more sustainable.

Safety

Our ultimate safety goal is to achieve a record of zero incidents, a belief we hold strongly as within our control, shaped by our own beliefs and behaviour. The vessel managers we work with prioritise the wellbeing of both our and their employees and seafarers, whether working on shore or on our vessels.

Human rights

In 2023 we created our first human rights policy. Moving forward, we will align our business practices with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the UN Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We will ensure human rights are integrated into our due diligence processes and ESG governance.

Ethical business conduct

Our work on anti-corruption, sanctions and export controls goes beyond compliance; it is a key part of responsible business management. We aim to play our part in eradicating corruption in our industry and our business code of conduct sets clear expectations for employee behaviour and business ethics.

Global cooperation

We engage closely with the Global Maritime Forum and the Getting to Zero Coalition. Our leadership team strongly believes in the coalition’s strategy and vision for achieving economically viable zero-emissions navigating deep sea trade routes by 2030.

Environmental stewardship

We are a signatory to the Sea Cargo Charter. The charter provides a global framework for aligning chartering activities with responsible environmental behaviour that promotes international shipping’s decarbonisation.
